The west side of the house is usually referred to as the carriage entrance. A circular carriageway existed there from the 1700s, well into the 1900s. Note the addition of a large structure on the left in the 1900 and 1920 photos. This was a modern kitchen that was removed in the 1930s restoration. The door on the West Façade is the main entrance to the home.
