Kenmore House Tour

Plaster ceiling at Historic KenmoreKenmore is perhaps best known for its elaborate plasterwork ceilings that date to the colonial period. The extensive, multi-year architectural restoration of the house, completed in 2008, helped restore and preserve these and other important architectural details for generations to come.

In order to protect the antique furnishings displayed within the house, all objects were removed when work began in 2001. Today, curatorial staff continue in their work to develop and implement a furnishing plan for the house, as recently uncovered information gleaned from the restoration and other sources offers a unique perspective and deeper insight into life in the eighteenth century.

The best way to experience Kenmore is in person. However, the website provides details about the progress of this project and offers insights into the lives of some of the families who lived here.
