The Washington House Groundbreaking

On April 25, 2015, The George Washington Foundation broke ground on construction of the Washington house at Ferry Farm. This milestone event marked the beginning of the physical transformation of George Washington's boyhood home. The first phase includes building an interpretive replica of the 1740’s Washington house, reconstructing the kitchen and outbuildings, and recreating the period landscape that surrounded the structures – all guided by extensive historical and archaeological research – as well as vital infrastructure, a new maintenance facility, and a safer entrance to the site.
